The moment we opened the car door, the freezing wind and rain smacked me right in the face in front of the Brandywine Manor House wedding venue in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania. My second photographer’s Frankenstein looking goulashes trampled through the wet, muddy parking area. We had arrived.
Aimee, the event coordinator, was there to greet us, and she could not have been easier to work with. She showed me around and let me know where all the events would take place. It’s nice how comfortable it was in all the spaces temperature wise

About the Couple
Colleen & Matt are a crazy fun, relaxed and laid back pair. They had a fantastic GTKY engagement session at the Race Street Pier in the spring. You can see it “here.” Colleen was also a bridesmaid at a wedding I captured the previous fall.
How We Planned for the Rain
When Colleen and I went over our final review before the wedding, we knew that weather was taking a turn around her wedding day. She was super cool and had ordered umbrellas, got boots and we had our backup plans set! Now bring it mother nature!
Bride and Groom’s suites at Brandywine Manor House
I went over to the suites where both parties were getting ready. The guys were pretty lively already and prepared to turn it up to 11 (which they did on the dance floor). They were super cool and laid back; housing hoagies as we often do on the East Coast
The bridesmaids were on the left side of the two spaces which are very close. I had to keep an eye on Matt so we would not have them accidentally cross paths before Colleen walked down the aisle. After popping some bubbly, it was time to get this bride in her Calla Blanche dress!
Because I want all the photographs to look as natural as possible, I suggested her to do her preps underneath the barn area which was one door away. There was a ton of natural light coming in from the open windows. It was quite cold but made sure we did this quick, plus they lit the fireplace in the background making for a stunning backdrop.
Indoor Brandywine Manor House Wedding Ceremony
The indoor barn space for ceremonies is stunning. You are surrounded by wood and a giant skylight of windows behind the altar area. The barn would be a gorgeous space for a cocktail hour or a backup ceremony spot if you planned on doing it outside. Colleen wanted it indoors from the start.
Outside shooting spaces for Portraits at Brandywine Manor House
The surroundings at the Brandywine Manor House are stunning. There are corn stalks, a wooded area, a small pond and much more. It is excellent if you have larger bridal parties due to the open space there.
Brandywine Manor House Reception
The tented space for the reception looks impressive with the lights hanging from the ceiling and holds a nice amount of people. I love white tented areas as the light is always so soft throughout when you are shooting candid moments of the reception.
There is also a fantastic patio outback which we used for a quick 8-10 minute evening session with the couple. We rocked those sparklers and umbrellas as the rain was still misting at night. But this made for some fantastic night photographs to end their story.
Colleen and Matt are an amazing couple that I always love being around. I loved their Brandywine Manor House Wedding! They have been in other weddings that I captured, so it was great getting more time to hang with them! Best wishes!!!
