Brief History
After hearing about the horrific sudden loss of her husband I quickly thought that I needed to help Erika’s family. We came up with the idea of a full day of mini-sessions with all proceeds going to her family and also give something to families for Father’s Day.
Why I did this shoot
After I met up with Erika and Mike, I saw the love that they had together as a family. After Mike’s tragic passing in a helicopter crash I wanted to do something special for the Murphy family. I was honored to capture their family and their happiness together. This tribute to him would help others to see the value of family while helping the Murphy family during this tough time.
Idea for donations
Everyone was so incredible when we made the announcement for the shoot. We sold out of all the time slots within 24 hours. We had to actually add an hour and scheduled a few additional family private sessions with proceeds going to Erika’s Family. The sessions were also posted on our proof site and any online purchases will also be donated to the family.
How it went down
For starters, we spent about a week planning this as I needed to figure out this full process with shooting, having families make selections and create a printed fine art photograph for them to take with them for Father’s Day. This was not easy! But with the help of our studio manager and graphic artist Kelly, our intern Angie, and my good friend & photographer Wayne we rocked the shoot!
Future hints of stuff on the horizon
After the success of the charity sessions from this past weekend I plan on doing more family sessions down the shore this summer, early fall sessions, and also working on a personal basketball project and some other special things. Thanks again for all your support and can’t wait to see you all again soon!
