Lauren & Stephen had a very special North Philadelphia engagement session. We planned out something a little more stylized and fancy together. So Lauren’s family has some buildings that they rent out in Northern Philadelphia. The area has some unique locations with color, texture, and light that were amazing to explore.
We decided on two separate outfits for her and two different arrangements for Stephen as well. I also brought my studio lights to try a few different things that I usually don’t do. It is always fun to get some extra playtime! I can’t take my studio strobes to most locations as they are quite big and heavy plus the softboxes are like giant wind sails.
One of my other favorite things about their session was they had a mural of a school bus right outside the building complex on the cement wall. Now this mural was painted on the wall but then underneath it, they actually had real tires with pimped out rims over the mural where the bus tires would be. It might be one of my favorite things I have ever seen in Philly!
At the end of each of my GTKY sessions, I like to have a bit of fun and have the couple destroy each other with some kind of product or run into the water, etc. We had an idea of doing colored powder that they use in the color runs. I’ve never used this before but wow is it fun. A tiny bit of powder goes a long way and covers your face quickly!
Overall it was an amazing session! Lauren & Stephen are so great to work with. I am looking forward to their wedding coming up soon at Cescaphe VIE in Philadelphia. There is going to be a ton to share from their extravaganza!
North Philadelphia is one of the city’s most visually rich neighborhoods, home to bold murals, industrial textures, and neighborhoods bursting with character.
