The best wedding moments of 2014 , winter and spring
This is the first half of my 2014 best-of roundup, the winter and spring weddings. Part two covers the summer and fall side of the year. Winter weddings in Philadelphia and South Jersey have a different feel, low sun, short windows, and a lot more time spent inside. Spring weddings open the calendar back up. Below are the moments from those months that ended up framed on bookshelves.
How I shoot a wedding day
Most of my weddings run with a second photographer and often a small film team. More cameras, more angles, more frames per minute. The portraits everyone expects, we get. But the photographs that end up in a roundup like this are usually the candid in-between moments somebody else might have walked right past. That is the part I care most about.
2014 was an amazing year so I wanted to share my favorite wedding moments by the season. I have the pictures portrayed in two galleries to show all that we were able to capture.
Winter
It was a cold, snowy start to the year but that didn’t keep us from enjoying the fun-filled wedding of KATIE & JON up in Tarrytown. The snow added to the beautiful pictures that we were able to take for their day. Their GTKY session in Boston was amazing and I knew their wedding would be the same.
The night ended with a classic bridal party snowball fight.
With this next wedding, the beautiful bride, Colleen posed for some of her pictures in the hotel room bathroom at The Monaco in Philadelphia.
It was below 30 degrees and snow/ice filled the entire area around Tendenza.
There was a special guest that was invited into the formals at the wedding of Francesca & Michael. Their giant, “Game of Thrones” type dog added to the special moments during their wedding day.
The weather didn’t hold us back from shooting more romantic, winter footage during a snowstorm by Princeton University, Princeton, NJ.
The evening started off with a super fun first dance.
It was an emotional day with me hugging the couple. Her father had passed two weeks prior to the wedding, and the day was filled with emotion, as they know he would have wanted them to all have an amazing time while he is watching over them.
Kate & John found a little private moment away from the bridal party.
SPRING
Dennis and Trina’s wedding at Grounds for Sculpture was beautiful with the fresh budding flowers in the spring.
Prior to attending their reception at Rat’s restaurant, the couple showed their wild sides and had a lot of fun posing together as husband and wife.
Danielle and Michael also had their special wedding day in spring. The couple had a great time with their wedding party and truly savored every moment of their day.
The groom even tried air planking, although we don’t recommend it!
Kate & Trevor’s wedding at Rat’s Grounds for Sculpture was wonderful. Kate, of course, looked like the classic beauty that she is!
They brought along some Princeton alumni with them for the wedding.
Then strolled through grounds for sculptures hand and hand as the newlywed couple.
But it wasn’t complete until EBE’s music started playing for all their family and friends.
Amy & Jon’s wedding was stunning as well. Here’s a shot of Amy checking out the intricate design in the wallpaper, right after she got her dress on.
Their parents brought over their pooch too.
Amy wanted to represent how much she loves Jon’s full lips.
Pam and Patrick’s wedding was fun-filled also. Pam met one of her high school friends that became a police officer.
The bridal party doesn’t need much of a nudge to let their hair down and have fun.
The girls were almost run over by a train. Actually about 10 ft away. Safety first!
The couple then went and checked out those same train tracks at night.
Patrick surprised pam with a limo to whisk them off at the end of the night.
You never know what you may be able to capture. In a moments notice, this amazing photobomb happened. Lee and Chris had their neighbor pogo through one of the groomsmen photographs. This is definitely not your traditional pose for the wedding party! Fun and spontaneous!

Lee and Chris are always stylin even when they stroll up and down a marina.
Yvonne & Bryan’s wedding at the Valenzano Winery was filled with family and friends that traveled many miles to be apart of their special day. Her Dutch family was able to attend this wonderful moment in their lives, traveling all the way from Holland for the event. One of the groomsmen showed us why the Dutch were rated the happiest people in the world.

The weather and day were so beautiful and they could not stop laughing and smiling together! They make a wonderful couple.
Stacy and Joe had a perfect day for their wedding at Vie in Philadelphia, PA. Her golden retriever was dressed to impress as well. I love capturing animals in my shots because they are like family.

Joe then picked Stacy up and ran down Broad Street in front of City Hall.
We then paid a senior citizen $2.00 to jump rope in front of the bridal party behind the art museum.
The night ended with a couple of hand-rolled cigars outside of Vie.
