I met Heidi a few years back for Lauren & Brett’s wedding. We had a great time on their wedding day. The first meet took place in Center City. She told us beforehand that she had a special poem for Vadim. Vadim is Russian so she memorized a short verse, in Russian to say to him after they saw each other. It was beautiful and he was in awe that she spoke Russian to him. The bridal party was a blast to work with and the guys memorized a Dragon Ball Z pose that they wanted to do in perfection for a few photographs. The couple also photobombed this guy named Junior. He spoke only a little English but was really nice and had some fun getting in on the action with the bridal party.
VIE by Cescaphe sits in Northern Liberties, one of Philadelphia’s most converted neighborhoods, and the venue matches that energy. The glass-walled event hall floods with natural light during golden hour, which makes my job considerably easier. Cescaphe has been running events in Philly since the 1980s, and VIE opened as their flagship space, bringing European-style service into a city that doesn’t always expect it. The rooftop terrace gives you Center City skyline views without having to fight for them. Dave Williams from Cinema Cake handled the video for this one, and their whole crew was easy to work alongside. When every person on the production side cares about the finished product as much as the couple does, you can feel it in how the day runs. No ego, just good work. The reception was at the Vie Cescaphe. The staff there is attentive without being hovering, and the space photographs beautifully in any light. After Vadim switched his tux shoes out for his old school Air Jordans, the night hit a different gear. That’s the kind of move that tells you everything you need to know about a groom.
