I met Laurie a few years back at Jackie & Johnny’s wedding at Forsgate Country Club. She was super cool and we even did a GTKY session with Jason her in the States last year. Laurie & Jason decided to have their wedding in Jamaica this past summer. I was pretty excited that they asked me to be there photographer as I have never been to Jamaica. Jamaica is absolutely beautiful! We had an amazing week together! It was summer there and it rained everyday making it tough to plan additional shoots. We did their GTKY session at Sunset Cove. They were not lying about the name of the cove as you will see in the photographs. I will be posting their full wedding next week.
The Grand Palladium Resort sits on the northwest coast of Jamaica near Lucea, Hanover. Sunset Cove is one of the resort’s most photographed spots, a natural inlet where the sun drops behind a ridgeline and lights the water up in a way that looks almost staged. It earns its name. For couples doing destination weddings in Jamaica, the Grand Palladium is one of the larger all-inclusive properties on the island, with multiple ceremony locations and a beach that stays relatively protected from wind. Summer storms are common, which is part of what makes a cove location like this one a smart backup when the rain rolls in.

Laurie and Jason were heading back to Jamaica for their wedding shortly after this session. The cove images at the end of this gallery were taken as the light was almost completely gone. Shooting in summer means afternoon rain is part of the deal, but that overcast diffusion from the clouds is one of the reasons the skin tones in these photographs look the way they do.
